By dragging the retiming handle, you may alter the duration or the playback speed of a clip. But you may also change speed using another manual method that utilizes a numeric entry.

3In the Retime Editor, click the Speed pop-up menu located to the right of the percentage display.

The Speed pop-up menu contains some of the same options as the Retiming pop-up menu, including the Custom speed option.

4From the Speed pop-up menu, choose Custom.

The Custom Speed window opens.

Here you may numerically enter a playback rate for a clip or the desired duration, and allow Final Cut Pro to calculate the necessary speed change. For DN_9452, you want to play the clip faster. Because the clip duration is already set as needed, you’ll adjust the rate.

5In the Rate percentage field, type 200, but don’t press Return yet.
